Caches No’s 2179 and 2180 – Mud, Glorious Mud

2nd November 2012 – Don’t Look Down! GC33J1T – cache #2179
I really don’t like mud, so what the hell am I doing out walking in it ? – That was a thought I had many times as I walked from the car park to a cache that looked from the description like it would be difficult enough in nice dry conditions.
The path to the cache was an ankle deep bog in many places, and what made it worse was that the boggiest places were often disguised by a fresh covering of yellow oak and beech leaves making it actually quite pretty, but horribly muddy underfoot. Continue reading

Caches No’s 2169 to 2178 – Homeward Bound

Sunday morning and  fortunately with the clocks going back we had an extra hour in bed as our long day at the HH&CC and then a late night curry had taken it’s toll… so it was around 11am when Bexi, Adam and I went our separate ways back home. My way involved a little bit of caching, I needed to find a Northamptonshire cache to drop one of the 1C3K keys off in, and it needed to be one that was very near the road as I couldn’t be bothered walking very far !

I had checked out the route before I went, where I live has the advantage of being close to both the A1 and the M1 and so it doesn’t really matter which one I use, the A1 route seemed to have the advantage in the number of caches on it

Caches No’s 2152 to 2168 – Creepy Night-time Caches

At 7:00pm the night-time caches were released, it was a right scrum to get the handouts with the cache locations on and then the FTF chasers were racing off to find the caches. Adam, Bexi and myself waited a while before we went out, there didn’t seem to be a rush. Everyone had torches, a lot of them blindingly bright head torches… some people go out looking for caches at night all the time, but after three and a half years and 2150 odd finds this was only the second time I’ve ever gone out at night to find a cache and the first time I’ve ever gone out to find caches with a torch…. not that we needed torches, the one day off full moon moonlight was bright enough to see the path by.  Continue reading

Caches No’s 2137 to 2151 – Halloween Hides and Creepy Caches

Stanwick Lakes, a unique 750acre countryside attraction and nature reserve in the heart of Northamptonshire’s beautiful Nene Valley, and widely considered to be one of the region’s most imaginative outdoor activity destinations. It offers the best of both worlds: extensive play areas to keep adventurous families entertained for hours, and for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists, acres of wide open spaces and paths, where blue skies are reflected in tranquil waters… At least that’s what it says on their website Continue reading

Caches No’s 2130 to 2136 – Driving down to Wellingborough

Friday, and I was heading down to Northamptonshire to attend the “Halloween Hides & Creepy Caches” event and it just so happened that I had some unfinished business in Nottingham so my route took me via that city again – my third visit in six weeks ! (actually my 4th visit in 9 weeks allowing for the fact that I also visited my Brother in Hospital there on a non-caching trip at the August Bank Holiday weekend) I had some more puzzle caches to find and a return visit to one of Jacaru’s to make Continue reading

Trackable No.4 – The Kryptos Geocoin

This trackable geocoin was the reward for being the first person to solve Jacaru’s Kryptos Cache. I’m not really too sure what I am going to do with it… apart from keep it !
At the minute it has been activated and has visited the puzzle caches I have found since I got the coin – I collected it from Jacaru at the end of my visit to Nottingham
