Caches Nos. 70 to 79 – A Walk by the Canal

A total change of location for this set of caches, a friend in Lichfield invited me down for the weekend and so I had a day out doing some local caches with Angel78

August 9th 2009 – Around and about Whittington #2 GC1NZ35 – Cache #70
A fairly easy find on the canal bank, though as the cache is buried in a hole in the ground I do wonder whether it will suffer from damp when the weather gets a bit wetter
The next one we looked for was GC1KAXT – Around and about Whittington #4, but the cache site for this is now overgrown with the very prickly hawthorn hedge and nettles. After a short look around we gave up

August 9th 2009 – Coffee Shops and a green box GC1V0GC – Cache #71
An easy magnetic nano, found because I knew what I was looking for, Angel78 will know what she’s looking for next time now too !

August 9th 2009 – Fradley Business Park – Lunchtime Diversions GC1MZM2 – Cache #72
An easy find on a public foot[ath near a business park, the stickoflage was just that… sticks, which made the cache quite obvious
At this cache I dropped off the Double One Fun Racer TB – which I read has survived the destruction of the cache by the farmers son running over the tree it was hidden next to in a tractor !

August 9th 2009 – Fradley Junction – Bridge 91 GC1M20T – Cache #73
August 9th 2009 – Fradley Junction – Man from Atlantis GC1M201 – Cache #74
August 9th 2009 – Retirement Plan – Thursdays (Hiding) GCQBQX – Cache #75
August 9th 2009 – Fradley Junction Part Deux – Hunts Lock Moorings GC1M9KF – Cache #76
August 9th 2009 – Fradley Junction Part Deux – Common Lock GC1M9MA – Cache #77
August 9th 2009 – Fradley Junction Part Deux – Bagnall Lock GC1M9NZ – Cache #78
For this lot fortunately we had a car already parked at one end of the sequence so we just parked at the other end, walked down the canal and then drove back to collect the other car
There were two we didn’t find (GC1M9MQ – Fradley Junction Part Deux – Chicken Run and GC1M9NB – Fradley Junction Part Deux – No Overhead Fishing) mainly because of nettles and thorns, the only one that caused difficulty was Bagnall Lock as there were a couple of families playing nearby though the kids were much more interested in their game of hide and seek then they were us… the only other problem we had was with the Retirement Plan cache where finding the cache was much easier than opeing the container (metal and rusted shut)

August 9th 2009 – Bike Ride #6 – A38 pullover GC1VADT – Cache #79
After leaving Angel78 I headed up the A38 home and just had to stop off for one last cache
