Duck Wars is a duck racing event Kerry holds on the Chesterfield canal. It takes place in the middle of nowhere, at a Lock which is about equidistant from the road and car park along the canal in either direction.
It was the first time I had been to the event, I knew where it was because I went with her (and others) on a walk along the canal a few years ago (cache #4673 30/3/19) to make sure this particular lock was suitable and in a good condition for her Duck Wars duck race.

This was Val’s (Uggy) 17th Anniversary of geocaching – I have never asked her why she is called Uggy
It was held in a noisy pub in Wetherby and so you couldn’t really talk to anyone who wasn’t sat right next to you
The next day was the Duck Wars event, the first thing there was to walk along the canal from the car park to the locks

As I pulled into the car park I met Mel and Derek, so we walked along the canal together to find a few caches as well as the Lab caches put out along the canal

This cache took longer to find than it should have as it was not in the right place, bt with many thousands of finds between us we located it

This was an odd one, the question was obviously going to be on the Fox Covert Wood notice board, but the coords had been recorded incorrectly so you had to go a fair way into the woods to open up the question and then come back to the notice board to answer it

There was a cache at the lock, so it was obviously found and signed by everyone
Then it was on to the Duck racing itself… take a lot of ducks, tip them into the lock overflow at the top, and let them race down to the bottom… first one that hits the net at the bottom wins…
