Fantasy World Cup – My Cache Hide No. 2

9th June 2010 – Fantasy World Cup GC2A02F – My Cache #2
Having cleared all the caches around where I work I had nothing left to do at lunchtimes… so I decided that I had better hide a cache or two. Driving along the road I have seen a footpath that goes off into an area devoid of caches so I decided that would be a good place to start looking for a spot to place a cache.
One lunchtime I parked at the end of the footpath and walked up it and found it went up the hill and then along the side of a golf course – now having done caches alongside golf courses before and spent 15 minutes finding more golf balls than caches I decided that I didn’t want to plant it as far along the path as that so I came back towards the car and found a suitable place – between a small tree and a low wall, well covered by foliage and I covered the cache further with a stone. Buckets, Tins and Bricks – Caches No’s 543 – 552

4th June 2010 – The Secret Seven House GC – Cache #543
I’d been spending time trying to work out solutions to local puzzle caches of which there are many in the Area between my house and Harrogate as there are a number of cachers around there who try and outdo each other with puzzles. On Monday I had done three, but still had a number to do in the same area. The first of these was in a place that I could actually see from where I did the Lindley Wood cache, but was a field away and on a totally different footpath that I wasn’t happy about crossing the fields between, so on Monday I left it for a later time, and that time was 4 days later.
I had solved the puzzle ages ago but as to get to the cache involved a walk of 3/4 mile each way I hadn’t bothered going to it, but it had become the nearest cache that I hadn’t found so my Friday evenin trip started there.
It’s a cache on a string, dropped into a metal gatepost. Fortunately the hint tells you exactly where to find it as you would struggle otherwise ! Continue reading

The Key at The Hunter’s Stones – Caches No’s 538 – 542

Spring Bank Holiday Monday – The day that last year I set off out with my PDA to find my first Geocache.
I’d not managed to make head or tail of the puzzle I had been working on the day before, at least I had managed to make a head, but not a tail… and that was leading me further and further up the wrong path. So eventually I gave in and asked the puzzle setter for a hint, and his email back to me showed I was trying too hard and the answer was something totally straightforward – but that I had little chance of recognizing apart from by random chance… the codes I was trying to resolve into cache co-ordinates are actually Travel Bug ID’s !
