Caches No’s 4022 to 4042 – The All things Welsh Weekend

This year there was no Kent Mega at the MayDay bank holiday and although it had only been running for a couple of years I was really missing a weekend away. So when Adam said to look at the All Things Welsh weekend in South Wales I decided that I would go along.
Angel78 decided that she needed a weekend away as well, so managed to book the same guest house that I did – Adam had been out and bought a camper van so he was camping – even though by the Wednesday he still hadn’t got one sorted out… by Friday he had it bought and taxed ! (the main reason I guess for the rush to get the camper was that he was taking a young lady with him…)

Caches No’s 4014 to 4021 – The Gruffalo Woods

Once the clocks go back and the evenings become lighter longer then there is more time in the week to go caching (there are those that go out caching in the dark with torches, but they are strange folk who are s lot more obsessed than I am).
So a pleasant Sunday evening at the end of April had me out for a walk round this new series. I ended up starting out on the wrong path and so instead of retracing my steps I followed a faint trail through the brush – which ended up at a ditch and wall, but I managed to jump one and climb the other to get back on the right track

Caches No’s 4008 to 4013 – My 100th YOSM Location

The East Yorks leg of our Meet the Mega Committee tour was planned for Beverley – it was to be a tea-time meeting, so that left me the rest of the day available to go and find a few other caches – I decided that as I was on 96 YOSM finds and there were 4-5 readily available on a reasonable route to the East Coast and then on to Beverley it seemed a reasonable plan to go and get to my 100th YOSM find.
Of course it was a rather long and convoluted journey that took me about twice the mileage as if I had gone directly to Beverley, but nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say. Continue reading

Caches No’s 4005, 4006 & 4007 – March Caches

The Mega 2018 Committee decided that as we had held our inaugural “Meet the Committee” meeting in West Yorkshire we ought to do one in North, East and South Yorkshire as well, so we could introduce ourselves to the wider Yorkshire caching community. Being on the Committee also means that I really am obliged to attend all the caching events that I can, so I am likely going to be going to more events over the next two years than I would ever have thought of doing before. I mean I wouldn’t have thought of going to events more than about 15-20 miles away, certainly not in South or East Yorks before unless they were going to be ‘special’, and now that is going to become normal. Caches No’s 4001 to 4004 – February Events in a Leap Year

I found six and a half times as many caches in January 2016 as I have in all the other January’s in the 6 years I have been caching put together… February on the other hand was not the same… between 2010 – 2015 I had found 117 caches in February, as you can tell from the title of this post I found nowhere near 6.5 times that number in Feb 2016 – rather than 760 caches I found just 4… and only one of them was a real cache, the other three smileys were for going to the pub ! Caches No’s 3995 to 4000 – A Launch Event Milestone

Five caches to find before my Milestone, and a 17 mile drive to the event – surely I could find enough drive-bys or near drive-bys on the way to get to 3,999 before I got to the event ? (If not there were many caches around the pub where the event was being held that I could rush off to before going into the pub.
So I set off plenty early enough to ensure that even with a couple of hiccups along the way I would reach the event and my 4,000th cache at the same time ! Continue reading
