Caches No’s 4533 & 4534 – 9 Usual Suspects

One of the nice things about spending a week camping with a bunch of geocachers is that you meet new people, form friendships with people who were until then just casual acquaintances and get to know friends a whole lot better.
One such at the mega was Jen of the Wright girls. We had met at events before and shared a drink and a chat and a laugh, and we spent time chatting and drinking and having a laugh with each other during the week at Newby Hall, and then when we got home found that we were missing each others company. Caches No’s 4518 to 4532 – 2018 Yorkshire Mega part 2

Mega day, we had been working towards this for just over 3 years, and it was here at last… The sun shone, the cachers came, we had two thousand attendees (well we had almost 2,000 log in, and we know some didn’t !)
and a good time was had by all.
We have given those committees who follow in our footsteps a hard act to follow. We didn’t really do anything novel, we just took all the best things about previous 10 Megas and did them all a little bit better. Continue reading

Caches No’s 4497 to 4517 – Yorkshire Mega Part 1

And then there were no days left, Monday morning I drove up to Newby Hall with my tent and set it up ready for the fun to start…
There were all sorts of jobs that needed doing at the campsite, cleaning toilets and showers, emptying bins, rearranging furniture etc that needed Committee Members to do, but there was also being the Committee Member at events with the Log Sheep task that needed doing, so I volunteered myself for that job and avoided the toilet cleaning !
