The Ordnance Survey list has just 1 Benchmark in grid SE1546, which is a normal Cut Mark

1 – CUT MARK – NBM GTP PRODN HEDGE SW SIDE ILKLEY RD
FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION
The Cut Mark is on a gatepost at the hedge junction on the South West side of Ilkley Road
This benchmark is on a bit of road that was cut off when the Burley Bypass was built 20 years ago so the verges are overgrown and at first I couldn’t see the cut mark at all, in fact I took the photographs of the gatepost thinking I was going to have to write that the Cut Mark must have been on the other gatepost which is now missing.

But when I got home and looked at the photo’s on the computer screen I spotted that the Cut Mark was there half way up the post – How I didn’t see this cut into the post when I was standing in front of it is a mystery ! (I blame the branches that were growing in front of the post, blocking my view of the mark)

To make it clearer I have highlighted the Cut Mark
