Caches No’s 4222 to 4236 – Kent Mega 2017 Part 1

Kent Mega time again, and unlike the previous two I was not driving down to Coventry to go to the Mega with Adam (UKCacheMag) – he was going but in his camper van, whereas I was in a nice warm Premier Inn. Travelling by myself all the way to Kent of course meant I could have a winding journey down visiting numerous locations for Survey Monuments and Virtual caches

YSM723 Tingley Hall
First of 11 YOSMs found on my trip to the 2017 Kent Mega
This one was the first on my drive down, Maybe instead of trying to follow Tom-Tom I should have read the YSM name, as the car sat-nav took me to the wrong side of the houses – and it was about half a mile drive to get round to the right road – Tingley Hall Drive.

YSM742 Till Bridge
Normal people probably don’t drive from Leeds to Kent via the outskirts of Lincoln, but YOSM hunters do !
I think this is probably the most overgrown pillar I have ever come across, it’s hard to even see that it is a trig point and not just a bush !

YSM716 Wickenby Bridge
Not so much an over-grown pillar as a grown over pillar, I suffered several scratches trying to get through the trees and bushes to it

28th April 2017 – KM2017 – Welcome Drinks – GC70APR – cache #4225
I really missed not having a Kent Mega to go to in 2016, it was great to have it back.

The Welcome Meet was a great chance to catch up with cachers from all over the place, some who I had seen since the Llangollen Mega several months ago, and others who I hadn’t seen since an event about 46 hours earlier!

29th April 2017 – The Kent Mega 2017 – GC6JGZC – cache #4226
My third Kent Mega, I’m an old hand at it now !

250 mile drive, 3 nights in the Premier Inn, an early start on Mega Day to set up the stall (this time the Yorkshire 2018 UK Mega stall rather than helping Adam on the UKCacheMag stall as previous years)
After the Mega closed Adam and I did the Lab Caches – Kent always have excellent lab caches

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 1. Art Attack  – cache #4227

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 2. Fish are Friends… – cache #4228

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 3. Scrap Yard – cache #4229

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 4. Puzzle This – cache #4230

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 5. Take Me Home – cache #4231

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 6. Up, Up, Up and Away – cache #4232

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 7. Slinky – cache #4233

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 8. Going Underground – cache #4234

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 9. Splash – cache #4235

29th April 2017 – Lab Cache 10. Swine Mansions – cache #4236

In the evening there was a barn dance, my fellow Yorkshire visitors were so taken aback that I got up to dance at the Barn Dance that they filmed it and banged the video up on Facebook – I’ve been to many Ceilidhs in my time so dancing is really nothing out of the ordinary for me
I really enjoy the Kent Mega, I’m already looking forward to the next one
