I had my TB, the Lucky Penny Racer ready to start racing, but needed to go and find a cache to put it in, which involved finding a cache that was likely to be regularly visited and big enough to put a TB in, so nano’s and 35mm film pots were out ! – so I decided on a relatively new cache that most of the locals hadn’t yet visited it, and it was a drive by so there would be likely many visitors even in the bad weather

The cache I chose that fit all the criteria was in Skipton, so off I went on January 7th… the earliest in the year that I have ever been out caching – well in four winters I have only been caching on one January day before now.

7th January 2013 – Gateway to Mud GC43ZRX – cache #2351
First of  all I had another couple of caches to visit, I have to say my choice of cache for the TB drop was  swayed slightly by the fact that this cache had appeared the night before, but as a nono was too small for the racer TB… It was a nice easy find watched over by a serene looking guardian, unlike the FTF I managed to get the log out without tweezers !

7th January 2013 – umpa`s troll GC3PH9R – cache #2352
I decided to go for a walk around the shops in Skipton, this cache is on the way from the supermarket car park to the town centre and I have looked for it before in the summer, but there were too many people about. This time there were fewer people and it was a quick find in an obvious place

A cache at the end of a layby, all there is at the end of the layby is a bush so it was obvious where the cache was going to be ! Trouble was there was a bloke sitting in a van at the end of the layby so I waited and waited and waited, but he wasn’t moving so in the end I just went for it and hoped he would just think I had gone into the bush to relieve myself… don’t know what he would have thought the camera flash was though !
