Caches No’s 1307 to 1309 – Sunday on Ilkley Moor

A sunny Sunday evening drew me out for a stroll onto Ilkley Moor – someone had been and put out some more caches since I was last there… It must be one of the most cache rich places in the country as I have already cleared over 50 caches from just a few square miles of moor.

As usual on the moor the cache is hidden under or by the side of a large rock. There was only one large rock anywhere near the co-ordinates, but it still took me about 5 minutes to find the cache so well was it camouflaged.

7th August 2011 – Davy Jones’ Locker GC31FKX – cache #1308
This was a strange one… an underground floating cache ! Well actually it’s a cache in a box, in a bag, in a box, in a pool, in a hole, in the ground. Good job I had my walking pole so I could retrieve it easily enough.

7th August 2011 – Proud to be a Yorkshireman – Ilkley GC31081 – cache #1309
Again a cache hidden under a large rock, a very large rock in a pile of rocks, and a very small cache… but the description did give a spoiler picture of the exact rock so it was just a case of fiddling around under it until the cache was in hand.
