Caches No’s 5103 to 5115 – A Day in Saltaire

Early in the year Groundspeak started inviting cachers to set their own Adventure Lab caches, at first they sent out an email asking people to apply, but later they just started sending out invitations at random.
Matthewgibbs asked for a set, and got a set of 5 adventure labs, which he set around the historic village (and UNESCO world heritage site) of Saltaire. The ‘Leeds Drink and Chat’ crew decided we needed a trip to Saltaire one Saturday to do these Labs, so Matt put out some other caches, and Hillgorilla (Nick) put out a couple or three Wherigos as well, and an event was arranged for late afternoon, so all was set for a day out.

18th January 2020 – Saltaire Village Lab Cache #1 Saltaire Institute – cache #5103
We all met up, and first headed for the lab caches, the first being at the Victoria Hall

18th January 2020 – Saltaire Village Lab Cache #2 Wash House Garden – cache #5104
Here I was complained at by the CO for looking at the wall of text on my phone, scanning down to the bottom, and saying ‘Blah-Blah, Question’…. which has now become a catch phrase !

18th January 2020 – Saltaire Village Lab Cache #3 Saltaire Church – cache #5105

18th January 2020 – Saltaire Village Lab Cache #4 Leeds & Liverpool Canal – cache #5106

18th January 2020 – Saltaire Village Lab Cache #5 Roberts Park – cache #5107

18th January 2020 – Saltaire # Mill – GCHWBA – cache #5108
The next 4 were Jigidi puzzle caches. My log here was Blah-blah Puzzle, blah-blah cache

18th January 2020 – Saltaire # Octopus – GC8HWCF – cache #5109
A mass gathering at a cache that seems to disappear into the 5th dimension at times… or at least FM1906 said it wasn’t there when she looked but it was there when Nottins found it 2 minutes later

18th January 2020 – Saltaire # Angora Goat – GC8HWCQ – cache #5110
Nice cache container, though being in a crowd it wasn’t me who looked for or found it first

18th January 2020 – Saltaire # Lion – GC8HC0 – cache #5111
Another one where the gang had already found the cache by the time we strolled along the path to GZ

18th January 2020 – Church Micro 13108…Saltaire – URC – GC8HZFF – cache #5112
First of the three wherigos, I won’t say I solved it because I didn’t (Kev of Eaves Clan did), but I found the cache 🙂
(though Kev of Hairy Fairies had the tweezers to get the log out of the container)

18th January 2020 – Saltaire…The Social History. – GC8J2M6 – cache #5113
Yay an FTF on a wherigo… it was quite interesting trying to juggle two cartridges at the same time (we sort of did the Lions one in the middle of this one)
With the hint in the final zone we had no problem locating the cache

18th January 2020 – Saltaire Lions – GCHTN8 – cache #5114
Last find of the day (well you can’t count an event as a find really)
And the last of 3 Wherigos

18th January 2020 – Leeds Drink and Chat on Tour #3 – Saltaire – GC8H12M – cache #5115
We arrived nearly an hour early for the event… it’s a good job the seats weren’t too comfortable or I would have fallen asleep after 3 hours wandering around in the fresh (and cold) air.
A good end to a great day spent caching with friends
