Caches No’s 4948 to 4963 – Hillgorilla’s a Beast Part 1

Hillgorilla had set out a whole load of puzzle caches – puzzles which were almost all Jigidi online Jigsaw puzzles.
Jigidi puzzles have a maximum of 500 pieces, and most of Hillgorillas are 470 or so pieces, and a lot of the pictures are mainly black so they can take 5-6-7 hours each to do them
As I sell Woodburning stoves summer is a quiet time at work so I did have plenty of time to get these puzzles done !

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (16) GC89KDB – cache #4948
The nearest of the caches to home is number 16 – so I started with this easy find

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (15) GC89KCF – cache #4949
Two gates have four gateposts – I found the cache on the third of four possible places

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (11) GC8725J – cache #4950
Nowhere really to park here without blocking the gateway so I drove up to Number 10 (I was going round backwards order !) and walked back down to this one… again a few possible places for the cache but I got there eventually

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (10) GC86ZGH – cache #4951
Quick Easy Find

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (9) GC86ZG4 – cache #4952
Easy find but I was eaten alive by midges at this cache

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (8) GC86ZFE – cache #4953
Another quick easy find

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (7) GC86ZF8 – cache #4954
Sneaky… but I found it quite quickly once I discarded the obvious

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (6) GC86WHJ – cache #4955
Took a while to find as there were many possible places that matched the hint, but there wasn’t a cache at any of them and a likely camouflage at two of them… I found the cache in the end in lying loose in the grass about 2 feet away from where it should have been
I put it back in the right place

After this I didn’t find Hillgorilla’s Beast (5) This wasn’t a jigsaw and although I knew what the puzzle was about I hadn’t found the correct website that gave the key to solve it, So had no idea of the coordinates, but it had to be halfway between 6 and 4, and I had the hint, but there were a lot of matching places and I obviously didn’t look in the right one

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (4) GC86WFV – cache #4956
I remember a cache here before… which I found back in 2010 (cache #869, but looking at the logs for that cache Hillgorilla didn’t find it until 2015)

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (3) GC86WFF – cache #4957
This was the last of the ‘Beast’ Jigsaws I solved… and by the time I got to this one I was so used to putting black pieces together by looking at the shapes that I managed it in a record time (at the time of writing over an hour quicker than the next fastest solver)
If only all the ‘black’ jigsaws could have been solved that quickly !

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (2) GC86WEQ – cache #4958
Quick easy find

After this I didn’t find GC Hillgorilla’s Beast (1) – it wasn’t immediately visible and life is too short to spent pushing your way through brambles, nettles and hawthorn hedges to look for a cache

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (25) GC8AVCE – cache #4959
Wet underfoot around here – you have to stand in the ditch to get the cache

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (26) GC8AVCV – cache #4960
Interesting that this road which goes literally nowhere has been newly resurfaced… perhaps that has more to do with the refurbished shooting hides than access to the masts at the end of the road.

Lucky tonight that the pull off next to this cache was the only unoccupied one so I could get to the cache

After this I didn’t find GC Hillgorilla’s Beast (27) Every possible place to park was full of Asian couples trying to get some private space to do their courting, nothing untoward going on, just I guess they don’t get much chance of privacy at home

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (14) GC87B6D – cache #4961
It was getting dark by the time I got here, and even darker at the GZ… I needed the torch on my phone to find the cache

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (13) GC87B6A – cache #4962
No problem finding this one

24th August 2019 – Hillgorilla’s Beast (12) GC8725M – cache #4963
Last of the Evening, nowhere sensible to park your car here so I was glad it was a quiet road and I could just abandon the car for a couple of minutes while I found the cache.
The log was too damp to sign and I didn’t have a replacement log with me…
but as with all caches I find I have a photograph of it
