As usual I went for my annual weekend away in Hunstanton (Norfolk), and found there a cache that was missing last year as well as a few new ones.

I decided that I had better have a Covid booster, so went onto the website to find the nearest place I could have one on a Saturday morning, this turned out to be in a very Asian part of Bradford, so I decided as I was not part of that community it might not be the place to go, so I chose the second nearest… in Greengates.
Greengates is next to Idle, and there is a set of Lab caches in Idle, so I headed their after being vaccinated

Duck Wars is a duck racing event Kerry holds on the Chesterfield canal. It takes place in the middle of nowhere, at a Lock which is about equidistant from the road and car park along the canal in either direction.

It was the first time I had been to the event, I knew where it was because I went with her (and others) on a walk along the canal a few years ago (cache #4673 30/3/19) to make sure this particular lock was suitable and in a good condition for her Duck Wars duck race.

I forget how many times I have been to the Amasons’ Hyke around Hykeham event in Lincoln, the first one I went to was in 2015, and they missed the last couple of years for one reason or another, so I guess this was my 6th visit – and most of the usual faces were there, and it was a nice sunny day to boot.
There is a lake just the football pitches length away from the venue and there were some caches and some Lab caches round it, so I had a walk round with Jeff (of CnJnA) to find them

And so the Mega day was over and we were on the winding down of the holiday week. A lot of people go home on the Sunday ready for work on Monday, but some of us stay to the bitter end.
I was meeting Angel78 for lunch as she was coming over – she lives only about 15 miles away, so I had a very quiet day on the caching front as well

I have written before how the actual Mega days are a bit unexciting, and this Mega was no different, Yes there are a lot of people there and many you don’t see from one year end to the next – indeed I spent a lot of the day sitting out in the sun chatting to an ever changing table of people and that was pleasant, but that was outside of the Mega committees offerings to entertain their customers
