Caches No’s 4828 to 4842 – Piratemania 2019

Piratemania 12, my 20th Mega event in the UK, well anywhere really as the other large event I attended in Germany was a Giga.
The fifth time I have been to Piratemania, and the fourth that has just been a day visit (Cheddar in 2017 was really too far to go in a day), but Cartmel is only about an hour and 20 minutes away so an easy day trip

All Mega events have Lab Caches and I really enjoy doing them. The first here were electronic puzzles, two separate ones but both gave the same answer

A block of wood contoured to match the lines on the map… except it didn’t really look to do so !

A jigsaw puzzle – why do the whole picture when you only need to do the bit with the answer on ?

3rd August 2019 – Can You Crack It Lab Cache – cache #4833
There was some logic to this but I can’t remember what it was, I was with someone else who opened the key safe

I never did find which QR code answered the puzzle, but the answer was given to me

3rd August 2019 – The nearly impossible Pirates puzzle GC87WJK – cache #4839
Is it really a 5/5 when you get the cache handed to you by a small boy?
The puzzle was a bit ridiculous as it involved having the right issue of Treasure Island (out of the several hundred published versions of it) so although we knew how to solve it it wasn’t actually possible without the book the setter used. However the cache was found possibly by total accident by kids playing in the river on a hot day and passed from hand to hand
