There was little doubt that when I did the Cachiversary challenge the cache I found most interested in was the YOSM, there was something entertaining about finding a location where there was no cache to find, no log to sign and that gave me another notch on my caching belt but not another smiley face. So when I arranged to meet some other cachers at a village near York to do a caching series I set off about an hour earlier than necessary so that I could take a couple of detours to grab another couple of YOSM’s on the way.

YSM486 Grafton was the first of two YOSM’s I visited that morning… A nice little walk up from the road… would be a great vantage point to watch the cricket on the pitch below !
Not knowing the area I followed the main track round the back of the little hill it was on, noting that there was a path and some steps leading up from where I had parked my car but not knowing where they went I ignored them… At the trig I saw that there was a path going down that side of the hill and I followed it and came out at my car, saving a few minutes walk on the way back

The second YOSM of the morning was YSM241 Caulkleys Bank… First time I have ever seen a stone built trig point, makes a change from white concrete pillars (apparently out in the wilds of Scotland they are common… stone is plentiful and getting concrete to the area difficult I suppose)

14th July 2013 – Howardian Trigonometry GC3XBXQ – cache #2657
Found while visiting the Caulkley’s Bank Trig Point – well the cache is hidden under a stone at the back of the pillar although when I was there the cache was disabled as it had gone missing, however there was a temporary cache in place – well more of a piece of paper slipped into half of somebody’s bus pass cover but I signed it, it may only be a replacement log and I’m counting it as a find as it gets a smiley at the minute
