Caches Nos. 105 to 120 – A Busy Weekend, Day 2

I still had shopping to do, so I set out again in another direction and repeated the routine of the day before…

September 6th 2009 – SideTracked – The Wharfedale Line – Menston  GC1G2PP – Cache#105
Hidden by a hedge, but do you get it from one side or the other ? I got it wrong first !

September 6th 2009 – Airborough In a Roundabout Way – White Cross  GC1G2TQ – Cache#106
Straightforward to find… the stickoflage is a little obvious to those in the know !

September 6th 2009 – “Had your Chips” GC19A4F – Cache#107
One of the pleasures of geocaching is to go to new and interesting places… but when you find them covered in rubble and waste left by a group of  ‘Travellers’ they are not always so pleasant

September 6th 2009 – Sidetracked – The Wharfedale Line – Guiseley  GC1G2PA – Cache#108
Straightforward find but trust my luck to get there just as a train disgorged a load of passengers so I was hanging around looking furtive until they had gone.

September 6th 2009 – Aireborough In a Roundabout Way – Guiseley  GC1G2T9 – Cache#109
Hidden under a flower container on the midle of a large traffic island, no way to avoid being seen by the drivers… so you just have to get on with it

September 6th 2009 – Aireborough In a Roundabout Way – Yeadon  GC1G2RQ – Cache#110
I like these caches near benches where you can sit and rest to fill in the log

September 6th 2009 – The Cinder Track  GC14WZ8 – Cache#111
I had a couple of horses watching me over the fence while finding this one, then the lady from the nearby house came out walking her dog, but I think she was really checking that I wasn’t up to no good
From this cache I collected the Geocoin – TB2603H – Herald Of Spring

September 6th 2009 – Wrose  GC1X7WA – Cache#112
I like these caches near benches where you can sit and rest to fill in the log… while sitting here I was passed by a Bobby on the beat, who stopped to stay hello

September 6th 2009 – The Post  GC1WGAA – Cache#113
Easy enough find, but there were a million motor bound muggles traffic jamming their way into Tesco who I had to disguise finding and replacing the cache from – which isn’t easy where it is – 6 feet off the ground, you can’t use the shoe tying trick as cover to retrieve this one !
Three DNF’s followed,
GC1X6F0 – Picadilly – a strange one this, I thought I knew where I expected to find the cache, and then at this spot were two magnets… as if the cache had gone, and as the finders logs had mentioned problems with magnets I didn’t look no further… but after an email to the cache owner he went and checked it out and found the cache was still there and the magnets were not in the right place.
GC1CGGE – No If’s or Butts – not so much a DNF as a Did Not Look… a disreputable part of town, in the delivery yard behind some shops that is used as the smoking bay for the local Bookies shop… with drunken punters out the back
GCZQ1F – Waterfall Wonder -The path to this one was an inch deep in wet slippery mud, the cache is hidden in the rockery wall at the side of the path… trouble is the gaps in the rockery wall are also full of empty bottles, crisp packets and other such pleasantries… after finding a broken glass bottle in one of the cracks I gave up on this one

September 6th 2009 – Crowgill Conundrum  GC10V1G – Cache#114
A quick Cache and Dash in an empty park

September 6th 2009 – Knights in Saltaire  GC1PDMV – Cache#115
It didn’t take too long to locate the cache, but I had to be a bit serruptitious putting it back as there were lots of muggles about

September 6th 2009 – Tale of Two Mills v2.0  GC1NJDY – Cache#116
Another cache on the canal bank that is hidden exactly the same way as Dobson Locks and Canal Capers 50/50.
The mills are in Saltaire, a World Heritage site
Saltaire Church

Saltaire Church

September 6th 2009 – Leeds L’pool Canal   GC1HY4C – Cache#117
Just after I had picked the log out of the cache container, a couple of my (Muggle) friends came walking past… so I had to chat, then walk away before coming back later to replace the cache

September 6th 2009 – SideTracked – The Wharfedale Line – Baildon  GC12JJ8F – Cache#118
Last one of the shopping trip.  I’d not seen a cache held in place by velcro before !

September 6th 2009 – Child’s Play 2  GC15WE3 – Cache#119
Later that same evening, going to the pub I just popped along the road to do a couple of local caches… the first ‘night caching’ I’d done. Couldn’t use my torch for this first one as there was a woman sat in her conservatory overlooking the cache site

September 6th 2009 – Cache Off Yer Trolley! (Yeadon)  GC1B2J3 – Cache#120
Finally for the day another film cannister hidden in another supermarket car park
