Grid Square SE1648

The Ordnance Survey list has 5 Benchmarks in grid SE1648, one is a Rivet, the others are all Cut Marks.

1648lge

1 – RIVET – RIVET WALL 6.2M W JUNC WALL OPP SW SIDE WEST LANE
NOT FOUND

The Rivet is on the wall on the South West side of West Lane 6.2mtrs West of the wall junction on the opposite side of the road
This wall looks like it has been knocked down and rebuilt several times, and I couldn’t spot a rivet anywhere – but it might be there somewhere

2 – CUT MARK – GTP 35.5M E HEDGE JUNC S SIDE WEST LANE
MISSING

The cut mark is on a gatepost 35.5mtrs East of the Hedge junction on the South side of West Lane
The gatepost and the wall are both missing, replaced by a modern wire fence

3 – CUT MARK – THE GHYLL N ANG S SIDE WEST LANE
FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION

The Cut Mark is on the North Corner of The Ghyll on the South side of West Lane
A very crisp mark easily spotted from the road while I was driving past (though I did park up and walk back to take the picture)

4 – CUT MARK – COTT S ANG SW FACE NE SIDE RD
FOUND IN DAMAGED CONDITION

The Cut Mark is on the South corner of the South West face of the cottage on the North East side of the road
The top of the mark is in good nick, but the repointing of the house has damaged the lower half – the right hand line has been chipped and both side lines are filled with cement

5 – CUT MARK – METH CHAP S ANG SE FACE NW SIDE ASKWITH LANE
FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION

The Cut Mark is on the South Corner of the South East Face of the Methodist Chapel on the North West side of Askwith Lane
