Bah Humbug… Part II

Submitted by on Tuesday, 1 December 2009No Comment

Christmas 1993, and the Waffledale group’s Christmas Meal is the feast for this posting. The venue was a restaurant up in Tong, which I can’t remember the name of at all.

It was a typical Christmas party night for these places, they had jammed in loads of extra tables and set them in long rows so there was hardly room to move, I remember that I was at the end of the row up by the wall where the table leg was hooked behind the heating pipes… so I was jammed with my ankle up against this red hot pipe.

Actually that is about all that I remember, I can’t remember the food… having been to so many of these they all tend to become much of a muchness, and as I can’t remember the food being either good or bad it was obviously unremarkable. I don’t think there was any entertainment other than the disco and the company… as usual for Christmas the place was full of works Christmas Do’s and gangs of over excited women in silly party hats picking on their shy male colleagues…  As a Christmas event this one was totally unremarkable.

A festive Andy Animal
Smoking in a public place ? ? ? Shocking !

Malibu Mel and Taz propping up the bar
(nothing remarkable there then)

Hubert and the Fish
The question I have is what is he wearing round his waist ?

Wendy Woo getting the ale down the neck
(in Waffledale parlance Ale is a generic name for all acoholic drinks)

Nelly and Sherry… it’s either a romantic moment…
or the music is so loud they have to get this close to hear each other speak

There’s always a casualty at these things… and it was usually Nelly The Pump !
I do remember the discussion about how much he had had to drink before falling asleep
and the one about should we wake him up to take him home or just leave him !
