Caches No’s 4964 to 4968 – A Midlands Day Trip

Bank Holiday Sunday, earlier in the week Angel78 had contacted me and said she wanted to do something at the weekend, so I drove down to Lichfield, and then we went on to the Churnett Valley railway in Staffordshire to ride on a train…
and guess what ? there was a cache at the far end of the line to do !

25th August 2019 – The Captains Hole GC178KH – cache #4964
We’d been for a ride along the railway from Froghall and decided as it was a nice day a walk along to the Flint Mill was called for… Unfortunately the mill was closed, but it was still interesting to look round the outside.
I had a look on the phone and saw this cache was here so I looked for it… Nearly missed it as the hiding place was full of litter, what I had to take out to get to the cache I deposited in a bin by the pub.

25th August 2019 – Markeaton series cache 1 (nuts and bolts) GC7YBN8 – cache #4965
After taking Angel78 back home I had a 100 mile drive home, and a few caches to do along the way, the first was in Markeaton park in Derby, I stopped to get something to eat and decided to adjourn to the park to eat it and there was a cache nearby. The coordinates for the cache had me confused at first as they put me basically in the middle of nowhere, but a read back of some of the finders logs soon had me pointed in the right direction and then it was just a case of looking round until I spotted the well disguised cache hide

25th August 2019 – Motorway Mayhem J29A (Northbound) – YELLOW M GC4WEV7 – cache #4966
For this cache hint is very prescriptive so there was no problem finding it

25th August 2019 – The New Thirty GC4EKM1 – cache #4967
This one took me longer than it should have, mainly because I attempted to find the cache in the correct place but it didn’t seem to move so I searched all around looking for alternatives, in the end out of desperation at not being able to find the cache I had another go at what I had done at first and this time it moved, and revealed the cache

25th August 2019 – Coffee and Cache, and Dash GC80592 – cache #4968
A nice hide, but I am glad it was a quiet time at the services as this is rather in view of everyone passing !

After this I didn’t find GC61EJB WOODALL SERVICES (S/B) I couldn’t find anything but litter in anywhere I could get to without needing a chainsaw (or at least a machete) The cache may be there, but I couldn’t see it
Life is too short to fight Hawthorns to search for an invisible cache so I left this for another time
