Caches No’s 2983 to 2988 – Falls Wood Bramley

A rainy weekend meant more time for planning the caches to go for on the way down to Northampton, I decided to be sensible and only go for the more select caches, a virtual, two Earthcaches, five YOSM’s and a traditional that was in the same place as one of the others… nine caches in all so I knew exactly how many caches I had to get in the four days left… I wrote it all down, numbered from 3000 down to 2983 and filled in the names of the caches so I knew exactly where I was… or so I thought !

Caches No’s 2976 to 2982 – Fifty Shades of Caching

Another dull, miserable and damp day but a morning appointment put me near Shipley so I thought I would go and get a few caches, and then a few more drive-by’s around home.
NOTE: It had to happen sometime that I deleted the photo’s from my camera instead of saving them, and it happened with the ones from this week… so for now they are temporary images that will be replaced when I revisit these spots and can re-photograph the caches Continue reading

Caches No’s 2966 to 2975 – Skipton in the Rain

As it had rained for the past four days and I had found a total of two caches I was still needing to find 29 more caches and the number of days was getting fewer and the weather forecast not looking any better so I decided that I would need to go out caching even though it was raining… this meant urban caches to avoid muddy conditions underfoot so I headed over to Skipton, first stopping at Embsay to grab a couple in the village there.

Caches No’s 2964 and 2965 – A Couple of Locals

I started working out how many caches I was going to look for on the way down to the Halloween Mega. I could easily expand the 5 I was counting on to 10, 15, 20 even – though that would mean an early start on my way down as each one would add time to my journey. In theory the journey to Northampton can take as little as 3 hours as it is straight down the M1 from Leeds, but in reality every cache you go to adds about 10-15 minutes to the journey so 20 caches would add 4-5 hours to the trip… so the more I find before the better Continue reading

Caches No’s 2957 to 2963 – Buck Woods & Dawson Woods

It was a couple of days after going to Whixley that I could go caching again, and this time it had to be a shorter trip as it was mid afternoon before I could set off… 16 days and 38 or so caches to do – down to 2.3 or so a day. There were a couple of puzzle caches of Team MX’s that I had solved but hadn’t gone for in a nearby place called Dawson Woods – which joins on to Buck Woods, a place where I have been caching many times before, and there were up to about 10 caches I could go for if I had the time Continue reading

Caches No’s 2933 to 2956 – The Whixley Wander

Monday, and I was down to 62 caches needed in 17 days, but with forecast of the weather getting iffy later in the week I decided to take the afternoon and go and do a series I’ve had on my radar to do for 6 months, but never got round to doing, but now with the numbers required and the weather turning, it was a case of make hay while the sun shines, or at least go walking before it rains and the paths all turn to mud. Continue reading
